Hey Fieldmice
There’s a lot of talk of meetups so I wanted to let you all know what I had in mind and see what you all think.
For the warm-up gigs, I leave the details of those to be left in the capable hands of our UK Fieldmice but anyone who sets one up and needs help getting the word out, just let me know and I’ll be happy to reblog the post, spread the word, whatever to give you guys a hand!
For the Festival Supreme, I was intending to do a bit of a roll call again like I did for the Oz shows, but I wanted to give folks a bit more time because some Fieldmice who plan to go may not have their tickets *JUST* yet or still have to sort out other details like flights/hotels (like myself) so I’m gonna wait til we’re a bit more midway from now to then before I start collecting names and trying to figure out times and places.
Any other thoughts, feel free to add them to this with a reblog or shoot me a message or whatever!!
*flails* I AM EXCITE.
I… I feel like there is one or two… but I can’t remember what interviews or BTS or whatever…. cos… after a while, they’ve all kinda blurred together in my mind.
Booshlrs? Can anyone think of some offhand?
I do and I don’t Nonny.
There have been a few things that came up recently… one thing I understood and agreed with… Another thing I didn’t agree with.
I do believe that when it comes to Noel or anyone else, that we do need to remember they are real people and respect that they have made decisions in their lives that we may or may not agree with. But we need to show them respect. Specifically when it comes to who they’re dating. Pretty much all we could possibly know about any celebrities partner is hear say. Unless we actually spend some quality one on one time with them, there’s no real way to know who they are as a person. I don’t understand what it is people don’t like about Lliana, I’ve not interacted with her too much because I don’t know much about her and just being Noel’s gf isn’t really a reason to cyberstalk her, IMO… but the few interactions I had, she was very nice to me. But… I don’t for a second profess to KNOW her or judge her in any way, good or bad, cos I’ve talked to her a whole of what? Twice? on twitter. that’s hardly good personal conversation. And for that matter, she couldn’t possibly say she knows anything about me. So, I hope that she doesn’t judge me necessarily based on what other people might tell her… cos I never know what’s really being said.
The other thing I saw come up was the whole thing about Pip/Lindsay, Howard/Vince, and/or Noel/Julian shipping and honestly, it doesn’t bother me. I’ve only been on tumblr for a bit over a year, so I may be somewhat lacking in experience, I admit… but, what I’ve seen is that Noel gains new fans all the time. And Stockholm Syndrome kinda gets discovered in waves. So, there will be a little while where the new folks are like HOLY CRAP ROLFCOPTER THIS IS AMAZING I SHIP EVERY SHIP ON EVERY SALTY FANGIRL TEAR OF THE OCEAN AND OMG. And then some of the people who USED to do that see it and go OMG I REMEMBER THOSE FEELS THIS IS GOOD FEELS IMMA FEELS IT SOME MORE and so yea, for a little while, it’s Shipping overload.
But it always calms back down and then it’s… Luxury overload or Buzzcocks overload or twitter overload now…
things come and go in waves…
I think the hard part is that those who have been in the fandom a long time.. sometimes we get tired of seeing certain things over and over or…. because we’ve been around longer… its like.. “OMG NOEL LOOKS LIKE FLORENCE HAS ANYONE NOTICED?!?!?” and a bunch of us roll our eyes and go, yea this is like.. three year old news or something now. we’ve heard it a billion times, so there is a certain lack of patience sometimes cos… ANYONE hears something too much, they get bored of it. And that’s understandable.
It’s just hard cos sometimes people forget what it’s like to be a new fan and young…
BUT on the same token… sometimes fans new and old get so… into their own fantasy, they do lose some sight of reality and it does get a biiiiiiiiiiiiit creepy or weird. and not in a fun way.
I think the most important things for all us fieldmice to remember is to
a. Don’t be dick.
b. Be respectful. Not just of your fellow Fieldmice and what they might prefer to ship or not ship… but also of Noel himself. We adore him and I think we would all trust his judgment on just about anything… we trust his fashion, we trust his music taste, we trust his comedy… we need to trust that the people he holds dear to him are people he selected for reasons that mean something important to him.
and I’m not saying you have to agree with every decision he makes or even like it, but you should respect it and him and Lliana and Dee and everyone else.
c. work to find happy mediums… if something makes you think of pip/lindsay, just tag it pip/lindsay instead of that AND noel/julian. then if people wanna find it, they know exactly where to look for their SS slashy needs. and if they don’t, they’re not stuck sifting through a bunch of old posts that remind you of your new ship. everyone’s happy, right?
I think we can mend the divide if we all work to respect each other and don’t hang onto the attitudes that anyone person or group or idea is superior to another. we’re all different and that’s what makes us AWESOME, it shouldn’t be what divides us.
I hope that helped. Sorry I rambled a bit, it’s been a long emotional day for this Mama mouse!
oohyeahboomalackaway replied to your post: do you know where i can find stockholm syndrome to…
